Coriander

Coriander is obtained from a plant which belongs to the family of the Ombrelliferae and is native to the Mediterranean countries. Its leaves and seeds are both used. Its leaves are more spicy and therefore mostly appreciated in the East -indeed, coriander is also known as Chinese parsley. Its fruits are yellow grains similar to pepper and their taste is sweet and reminiscent of lemons. Coriander is carminative, antispasmodic and stomachic so it is a good natural remedy against abdominal colic, digestive difficulties and swelling. With coriander an aromatic and efficently digestive infusion can be prepared by putting 2 grams of coriander seeds in 100ml of boiling water for a few minutes- a couple of sips after meals will be sufficient to promote digestion and elimination of intestinal gas. Moreover coriander has a stimulating effect that attenuates sense of fatigue and fights the lack of appetite- this is to say that coriarder is a good tonic for brain activity and the nervous system. Coriander also has a fungicidal and antibacterial effect.
